to all the families that have lost a love one to this terrible world of war and conflict,you are so special and i think you should be proud that these young men and ladies wanted to defend their country...my dad served in the forces and i know how hard it is to not have a normal family life,always away from home....i cannot begin to imagine how it is for you to never have your husbands sons etc never returning after trying to fight for peace...love to you all.carol stening xxx

THE FINAL INSPECTION
The soldier stood and faced his God,
Which must always come to pass.
He hoped his shoes were shining,
Just as brightly as his brass.
"Step forward now, you soldier,
How shall I deal with you?
Have you always turned the other cheek?
To My Church have you been true?"
The soldier squared his shoulders and said,
"No, Lord, I guess I ain't.
Because those of us who carry guns,
Can't always be a saint.
I've had to work most Sundays,
And at times my talk was tough.
And sometimes I've been violent,
Because the world is awfully rough.
But, I never took a penny,
That wasn't mine to keep...
Though I worked a lot of overtime,
When the bills got just too steep.
And I never passed a cry for help,
Though at times I shook with fear.
And sometimes, God, forgive me,
I've wept unmanly tears.
I know I don't deserve a place,
Among the people here.
They never wanted me around,
Except to calm their fears.
If you've a place for me here, Lord,
It needn't be so grand.
I never expected or had too much,
But if you don't, I'll understand.
There was a silence all around the throne,
Where the saints had often trod.
As the soldier waited quietly,
For the judgment of his God.
"Step forward now, you soldier,
You've borne your burdens well.
Walk peacefully on Heaven's streets,
You've done your time in Hell."

To my gorgeous husband, I love you and miss you more than words can ever express. I would give everything I have and more just to have one more day with you and just to see your face again. Roxy Moo is missing you lots. You are and always will be a hero to me and to so many. May you rest in peace babe and watch over us from up there.

this is to all the guys who have died in afghan this war should not be ours but youve made us proud not just us exs but every trooper serving and past serving with your insignia.youve brought home your battle honours in a body bagyou stood tal and was counted when it came too from the lowest ranks to the ruperts in charge,courage,integraty and self-discipline this country should never forget you for you paid the greatest price a soldier can pay death before dishonour,no dishonour with you guys im proud to have belonged to the worlds best fighting force whether you are army,navy,soldier or marine this country salutes you.
